Blessings of Summer

Happy Labor Day! It's been a long summer and it sure did end with a bang here in Ct! Hurricane Irene knocked out our electricity for 2 1/2 days. After getting it back we realized our internet, phone and cable wasn't working. It then took until this past Saturday for At & T to get it fixed! The kids and I have decided that we can live without electricity but not without TV!
Hope you all had a wonderful, blessed summer! Here is a photo taken of my family at Timothy Hill Christian Camp in MA. this summer after my daughter Elena was baptized into Christ by her dad! God is good!

graduation owl (ppa98 sketch challenge)

I gave this card to my friends son who will be graduating high school this week! It's funny how OLD you feel when a friends child reaches a milestone! My kids have a ways to go as far as graduations and things like that, but it seems our close friends all have children who are either married, in college or just leaving high school. My girls will be entering 8th and 5th grade this fall. Maybe there's a method to our madness......we're the youngest of all our friends! (and there kids used to babysit for us)!!

New Friends!

This is my new little furry friend. Her name is Charcoal, Coal for short. She was found yesterday in my neighborhood. The kids down the street found her in their back yard. It looked like she was attacked in the eyes, but after a trip to the vet she has conjunctivitis, upper respiratory and dehydration! She might be around 8 weeks old, but we're not too sure. At first I didn't want to have another cat in the house, but something called compassion took over and I found that I could not say no to this little one. Last night was like having a newborn in the house! I had to feed her every 4 hours during the night! Well I look like I haven't slept and feel like it too! So that was how I spent my Sunday afternoon...

Here are a couple pictures of me and my sister Cindy at the Hartford Regional on Saturday. We sat with a nice woman from Springfield, Ma. The seminar was a lot of fun and the Make-N-Takes were challenging but beautiful. I'll post pictures of them soon.

Gotta go now and take care of my little friend!!

Mummys!!

This is the box of treats that my daughter Elena brought to school on Friday. There are a total of 17 "Mummys"! They were a lot of fun to make but I'm glad Halloween is over. Each "Mummy" had a twizzler package and a starburst package stapled to the inside. She said all the kids LOVED the mummys and thought they were the best Halloween treats in the class! So now I guess I'll have to come up with something even better for Christmas?!

Baltimore Regional

Here I am at the Baltimore, MD Stampin' Up! Regionals! That's me 2nd in on the right and my sister (also my up-line) to my left. Cindy and I had a great time meeting new demonstrators and visiting the beautiful city of Baltimore. We spent the weekend walking around the inner harbor and eating delicious crab cakes and cream of crab soup! I'd go back just for the crabs!! I learned so much from all the workshop wows and the demonstrations that my head was bursting! I made some swap cards and these are the pictures of both, a little blurry because I took them the night before I left and was a little tired!

Good Tuesday morning! Very busy week for me and my family, we have our V.B.S. in the evenings so getting ready every night is always rush-rush. Just got home from Florida and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! It was hot, hot, hot there but the heat didn't keep us away. The lines were long but so worth the wait. While we were in Florida we spent one day with our good friends. Its such a blessing to have friends that "never fade"! Time doesn't matter nor distance! I made this card for them and used the theme from this weeks PPA challenge!

A Wedding Card

We have a wedding on Saturday and I just love the way this turned out. The only stamp used is the word cherish and its from the Baroque Motif stamp set. The leaves are from the Two-Step Bird Punch and they are all attached using little pieces of dimensionals. The heart was cut out and embossed with the Perfect Details embossing plate as well as the entire piece of Whisper White cs. Thanks for looking, have a blessed day,

Again, I needed a sympathy card. A husband, father, grand-father and christian man age 55 was called home. Life is so unexpected that we need to live as if today was the last day. Death does not discriminate. It will happen to all of us. Am I ready for that day? In many ways yes, in many ways no.

SPRING!!!

In honor of Spring and all the birds that have decided to visit my front yard (to the delight of my cat) I made this card. The flower is created by punching out 3 scallop circles and folding them back and forth so that the paper becomes soft and begins to separate. Once it starts to separate, you peel apart the card stock so that one circle now becomes two. The two pieces that were separated look like suede. It's very pretty and looks soft. I used the same technique on the So Saffron circle in the middle. The flower is held together with a brad and adhered to the branch. This is one of the cards we made last night for my monthly Make-N-Take. We used the Abundant Hope stamp set from the occasions catalog on watercolor paper. I love the softness of using the water color crayons with the Aqua Painter. The stazon ink gives the image a crisp look and will not smear when you apply the Aqua Painter.

I made this card last night after I received the March newsletter from Sandy Hoefakker. She had a similar card design using the Vintage Vogue Stamp Set with the emboss resist technique. I had so much fun making this card. I'm sending it to my brother and his wife for their 5th wedding anniversary.

I'm still loving this set! I did use some retired paper (Kiwi Kiss and Parisian Breeze) but you can swap out those for what ever you have in stock. The flower is stamped in So Saffron classic ink on So Saffron textured card stock and I used a round firestone brad in the center. This card was inspired by the PPA20 challenge. This week we were encouraged to use the color combo of Crushed Curry, Soft Suede and Old Olive. Not a combo I would automatically go to but it worked for this card. The stamp set is new from the upcoming Occasions Mini and it's called Vintage Vogue. Bermuda Bay Christmas

Here's a card using the new shimmer paint, Frosted White. The shimmer paint was sprayed on using a little rubbing alcohol mixed with the paint in a bottle. Very easy to do and the results are pretty, though it is hard to see in the photo. You must take my word for it. The paper is textured Bermuda Bay and textured Brocade Blue. Inks used are Taken with Teal and Night of Navy. The stamps are Serene Snowflakes and the words are from Christ is Born.

Thanksgiving Easel Card

I found this easel card at SplitCoast and thought I'd try it. We made it last month at my Make-N-Take and it was a huge hit. I love the simple gold embossing and how elegant the card looks. I mailed one out today to my sister in South Carolina and I hope she likes it. Sending cards at Thanksgiving is something I'm trying to do more of because I want people to know how thankful I am for being in my life.

Latte Love in Fall!

This is one of the cards we made Monday night at my Make-N-Take. I used the sketch from this weeks MoJo 109 challenge.
The Font of You stamp set is so easy to use and one that I haven't used too much lately. The mug is stamped in Pumpkin Pie then using a Blender Pen we took off the "steam" and the "latte" after that we just filled them in with the Soft Suede marker. To create the "table" you use a post-it note to mask off the top of the card stock and dip a sponge in Chocolate Chip ink and there you go! The card stock used is Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry textured.

Shimmer Ornament MoJo 105

WOW! It's been a while since I last had me some MoJo! I've had this Delightful Decorations stamp set for a while along with the new Shimmer Paint and have finally used them. It's hard to see the pretty shimmer on the ornament and the vanilla circles, but believe me its there. I used the spray bottle technique with alcohol to add the shimmer. Very easy, just put a little alcohol and a few drops of your choice paint, shake it up and then spray! I think I'll do all my Christmas cards with it because it's so pretty in real life.

This was my first attempt with the brayer. I love how the card came out and the colors are so soothing together. We made this at last months Make-N-Take and it was so popular that we'll be doing another brayed card this month. Unfortunately, I had to make more of these cards because we had two funerals in a 2 weeks span. I guess that's how it goes sometimes,

I made this card for the "Halloween" challenge at "Pals Paper Arts" It's been a while since I last did a challenge. The end of summer was a little crazy and today was the first day back to school! It's Monday again! Time flies in the summer! This is a card I made for my niece who is at camp this week. My kids were there for the first two weeks in July. They loved it and can't wait to go back next year. Christian camping is one of the most rewarding and tiring weeks you can spend during your summer, but so worth it! My husband and I worked the first week, he taught Bible classes and I taught Arts & Crafts. We were so blessed! Good weather and lots of fun...

Cheep Talk!!

I just got this set in and it's one of my favorites! I love the birds and all the sayings you get with it. For this weeks MoJo 86 Challenge I thought "Cheep Talk" would be the perfect stamp set to use. I stamped right on the DSP from the "Bella Rose" paper pack. I stamped the branch in Chocolate Chip ink then using my Blender Pen I "wiped" off the ink from the leaves then using the Always Artichoke marker I colored the leaves. When you stamp it onto the paper I looks fantastic! The birds were inked in Ballet Blue then cut out I added some Dazzling Diamonds on the wings and a dimensional for an added pop! The rest of the card is Chocolate Chip cs, Pink Pirouette cs and Regal Rose ink for the flowers. That's it! Have a wonderful Tuesday, May God bless you all!

These are a few of the over 100 Thank You gifts for the CT Ladies Day I made. The theme for the day was "Singing In The Rain". The scripture on the back of each favor was from Isaiah 43,

"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior..."

I was so encouraged by everything, the singing, lessons, skits, prayers and just seeing God working through all the "storms and rainy" times in each of our lives and knowing He is covering us with His "umbrella" was so uplifting! Learning how to "sing in the rain" is one of the hardest things but one of God's blessings because only after the rain do we experience His beauty! I love the song by Mercy Me, "Bring The Rain", part of the lyrics are,

"Bring me joy, bring me peace

Bring the chance to be free

Bring me anything that brings your glory

And I know there'll be days

When this life brings me pain

But if that's what it takes to praise You Jesus,

Bring the Rain"

At the end of the day we all sang that song and I could not help but think, ok God, bring the rain, bring the rain...

God is good, all the time!

Wow! 2 Cards in ONE day! I guess the MoJo is really flying. Font of You is a beautiful set with so many options. This card and the colors just make me feel happy looking at it. I started with a Whisper White card base then added Tempting Turquoise and some of Apricot Appeal DSP from the Level 1 Hostess benefits. Lovely Lilac was used for the Scallop Circle and as a base for the main image. Green Galore was used as the vase with embossing to give it some shine and dimension. Perfect Plum ink is the flowers and some Green Galore brads finishes off this card. Oh, Whisper White grosgrain ribbon with a bow to the side. Another Mother's Day Card

Color Inspiration #47 at KWERNERDESIGN.COM I just fell in love with this color combo and wanted to give it a try. From my previous post today you'll know that I just got the "Blooming With Love" stamp set. I also picked up the new Parisian Breeze Specialty paper. This new paper is a heavier weight and also it's textured. The paper comes double sided so you have a lot of choices. I tried the Crystal Effects on the wheel barrow but I think I could have done more coats, maybe next time. Thanks for coming over, have a blessed day!

Happy April Fools!

This is my take on the sketch. I wanted to use "happy" colors and the Apricot Appeal was the perfect choice. I love the Level 1 paper pack because you get a good variety of patterned paper. The vase was stamped on Whisper White with Perfect Plum ink then cut out and Crystal Effects were applied. A dimensional popped it up and some Dazzling Diamonds added a little sparkle to the flowers. Here's my MoJo for this week. I did not do the challenge last week for various reasons. Mostly I was just too busy! I combined the MoJo with this weeks Color Challenge 211 at SplitCoast, again. I love the combo of Pretty In Pink, Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze. It's called Pretty Kiwi Breeze's !! I love it!! So you already know my colors and I also use the Bella Rose DSP. The stamp is the new Font Of You set which is becoming one of my favorites. I stamped the coffee, sorry Latte cup in Chocolate Chip and Versa Mark then used clear embossing powder to give it some shine and texture. Stamp Club Projects!

These are the two cards my Stamp Club made on Monday night. We had a lot of fun with them. The first card on the left was made with the Heartfelt Thanks stamp set and the sentiment was from Fun & Fast Notes. Old Olive, Pretty In Pink and Raspberry Tart DSP were the papers along with some paper piercing to finish it off. The other card was EASY! The Baroque Motif stamp set was the perfect stamp for the bleaching. We first dipped the stamp in Perfect Plum ink, stamped the image onto the card, then dipped it into the bleach! The results were different for each card depending on how much of the bleach got onto the stamp. The "happy birthday" sentiment is from a retired set, but went perfectly with the card. A piece of Rose Red cs along with a flower and a brad topped it off perfectly!

I'm Back!!

I did not contribute to last week's MoJo or any thing else for that matter. A very busy week and not much time to do all the things I wanted to do. Today is another "snow day". We got about 5" so far with another 5" coming this afternoon. So I dug out my "Serene Spring" hostess set from the last catalog and got into some MoJo! With all that snow outside I needed a little Spring inside. I used:

This is the other card I made yesterday. I wasn't sure what to do with the tree at first. I stamped it using Perfect Plum on Very Vanilla card stock. Then I was stumped. I did not know what to do with it. Then I remembered seeing a tutorial on Cracked Glass, that's when I knew I had to try it. After 3 layers of the Glassy Glaze I popped it into the freezer for a few minutes then I "cracked" it. So much fun! I layered it onto Lavender Lace card stock. The base of the card is Going Gray with Pink Pirouette cs, and a strip of Basic Gray from the Level 1 Hostess Patterns Pack Designer Series Paper.

It's Monday again! The weekend flies by when you're having fun. The kids are off school this week so I don't know how much I'll get done but I always seem to find the time for some MoJo! This weeks card is a soft color combo. I wanted something soothing.

This weeks color challenge over at Splitcoast was the brightly inspired combo of:

Tempting Turquoise, Lovely Lilac, Gable Green, Pink Passion

I think these colors came out pretty good using the Crazy For Cupcakes stamp set. The cupcake was stamped then cut out and popped up with a dimentional. I used the Stampin Pastels along with a blender pen to color it in. The pastels give your image a soft look and the Dazzling Diamond Glitter sets off the flame and sprinkles! CC202 Color Challenge

Here's the card I did for the color challenge at Splitcoast today. The colors are Bravo Burgandy, Regal Rose and Kiwi Kiss. I love how these colors work together, I would never have chosen them on my own. (I usually case someone else's color combos!) The "flower" on the top left is made with the Scallop Punch and a rhinestone brad. I found that cute idea from someone but cannot remember who (sorry). The only thing I stamped is the sentiment from "Heartfelt Thanks". Thanks for looking and have a great day!!

This is the first time I've done a sketch for the Mojo Monday. I've seen other cards by some fabulous stampers and I always think I could never do what they do. Today I was inspired by the sketch design and the wonderful rub-ons I got in my pre-order. This is the level 3 "Hand Drawn Bundle". You get 2 sheets of Loop to Loop Rub-Ons (1ea. I just love this stamp set...can't make enough b-day cards (lol)! Well I got my box of the NEW Spring/Summer Catalogs today!! I was so excited, I opened it in the car and fell in love with so many new stamp sets and don't get me started on the "corduroy buttons" and oh the "button latte" set is stunning! I just love these new "fleurettes" they look like crocheted flowers...so pretty. The new Designer Series Paper packs are stunning as well, they're offering some in "textured" card stock!! Here is the purse from the front. My daughter now wants these for the kids in her class for Valentine's Day. They are just big enough for about 4 mini candies or 6 hugs & kisses. This is so much nicer than the store bought cards the kids give out and a lot more fun to make! But it's more work for mom.

Here's the side angle of a Valentine purse I made yesterday. I got the template from the Stampin' Up! web-site. I used Love You Much stamp set, Ruby Red cs, Candy Lane dsp, and Whisper White cs. The ink is Real Red and whisper white ribbon and gold elastic cord. I hope you like it.

Gift Card Holder

I made two of these gift card holders for the babysitters. I found the tutorial somewhere, I just don't remember, I get all my ideas from others. The paper is from the "I Wish" paper pack along with the cute reindeer sticker. The sentiment is "Loads of Love" stamp set.

I had a lot of fun making them and its nice to give a gift card but also nice to have the inside of a card to write something. Have a great day and enjoy the rest of 2008!

Here's me at the table. My sister Cindy took all the pictures. She did a FABULOUS job on all the items she sold at our table. I loved her gift card holders and especially the presentation. She wrapped the lid of a shirt box with Stampin' Up!'s gift wrap from last year and filled it with table salt mixed with Chunky Blue Glitter! It looked like real snow! She had the card holders standing up in the snow. You can see them on the right hand side of the picture. The blue and silver colors look beautiful together. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

These are some of the milk cartons. I stamped most with versa mark and the snow flake stamp from the Merry and Bright set. They are all filled with candy canes and the In Colors paper really looked nice.

Just came back from the craft fair and I'm very tired. My sister Cindy came from RI to help out and to add to the table. We had a good day and thought it was a good learning experience. Now we know what to expect and next year we'll be prepared. I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving and are ready to begin the holiday shopping!

Trivets!
Here are a couple of the trivets I've done for next weekends craft fair. I think these came out great and I hope they will be a big hit. I used the Glassy Glaze Enamel on them and they have the feeling of embossing. I have coasters to match and will try to post pictures of them soon. Have a great Friday!
